LaVonne, the voice behind Care Without Carrying

About me

Hello, I’m LaVonne

I write for the women everyone calls.

For most of my life, being the dependable one felt like the truest way to love people. I listened well. I noticed what needed doing before anyone asked. I carried conversations home with me and kept turning them over long after they ended. It looked like devotion, and much of it was. It was also quietly costing me more than I understood at the time.

What changed was not that I began caring less. What changed was that I began noticing sooner — noticing when listening turned into fixing, when compassion turned into responsibility, and when saying yes was really the fear of disappointing someone. Once I could see it, I finally had a choice.

Care Without Carrying grew out of those years of noticing. It is the slower, kinder path I wish someone had walked with me: no diagnosis, no labels, no pressure to become a different woman. Just forty unhurried days of paying attention to what happens to you while you are caring for everyone else.

I can care about what you are carrying without carrying it for you.

What I believe

A Few Quiet Convictions.

  • Caring is not the problem. Carrying what was never yours is what wears you thin.
  • Noticing comes before changing. You cannot tend what you have not seen.
  • Rest is not a reward for finishing. It belongs to you now.
  • You can love someone and still let them carry their own choices.
  • You are already loved, before you fix, solve, or hold anything together.

How I write

Gentle, and Honest.

I am not a clinician, and this is not therapy. I am a woman who has learned to pay attention, and who writes the way she would talk with you across a kitchen table — unhurried, honest, and without a single grade attached.

Faith runs quietly through what I write. You will find it in the reminder that you do not have to earn your place by how much you carry. You are deeply loved before you answer another call.

An invitation

Begin Where You Are.

If any of this feels familiar, you are welcome here. Start Here will help you notice where you are beginning — privately, gently, with nothing to prove.
